Marathon is officially returning Duos in a larger way next season. The current Outpost Duos playlist was removed, but Bungie confirmed changes to accommodate player feedback.
It’s no secret that Duos is coming back, but will reportedly play a more prominent role in Season 2’s playlist.
Duos Queue Confirmed for Season 2
While the Outpost Duos playlist has been removed, developer Bungie confirmed next season will include a Duos queue. Players pushed for a return to permanent Duos playlists after recently enjoying the ability to queue into two-player teams.
The decision to remove it was likely just a test to see how players responded to the format once more.
Experimental Playlist Incoming Next Week
Players will have something to occupy them while waiting for the next season. A new experimental playlist is launching next week on April 15 at 10 AM PT. We don’t have many details about the mode just yet.
Experimental playlists usually mean a new game type that Bungie is testing out for possible permanent inclusion down the line.
Other Balancing Changes
With a lot going on for Marathon right now, we’ve also seen some players favorite abilities and weapons hit with balance changes. The Biotoxic Disinjector was hit especially hard but players can expect many more balance changes as they continue to tune the game.
The studio recently stated that they want to even the playing field between different playstyles.
New Content Coming for Season 2
We know that some new locations and enemies are incoming for Season 2, too:
- Nightmare Dire Marsh
- New Runner
Players should continue to expect new content as changes are being made to playlists.
